How to make a delicious Beef fillet with Figs

Beef fillet with figs is a tasty second Italian dish, perfect if you have invited friends to dinner and want to surprise them by preparing an original and refined second course.

I often make this simple recipe even when I want to prepare a romantic dinner for my husband.

I pair some very good baked potatoes or sandy potatoes and obviously an excellent Italian red wine; so the evening is really perfect!

Obviously, I make this dish in the summer when there are really good figs, especially here in Italy where the plant grows in many home gardens; let’s not forget that these fruits, in addition to being good, are fruits rich in properties that are important for health.

During the winter, however, I prepare the Grilled fillet in red wine sauce, also very simple to prepare, but very effective! As for the cooking times of both these recipes, they are for rare fillets, but if you prefer them more cooked, just increase the cooking time; but remember the more you cook the fillet, the less tender the meat will be!

But now let’s see together how the Beef fillet with figs is prepared.

Recipe Difficulty Level: easy Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of beef fillet (about 4 cm (1.5 Inches) high)
  • 4 figs
  • 2 onions
  • a glass of red wine
  • Stock
  • a knob of butter
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper

Method:

Chop the onion is small pieces.

In a pot, brown the onion in a knob of butter and 2/3 tablespoons of oil.

Once the onion becomes transparent, add a ladle of stock and wait until it evaporates.

Pour a glass of red wine and let it evaporate on a medium heat.

Peel and cut the figs into small segments and put them in the pot.

Add salt and pepper and cook it for 20 minutes.

In a pan, heat a knob of butter and 2/3 tablespoons of oil, and add the slices of fillet.

Cook the fillet for 3 minutes on each side.

Once cooked, put the slices in a dish and add the figs sauce.

Enjoy your meal! Buon appetito!
