They are super easy and very fast to make; you will only need 3 ingredients: puff pastry, salami, and green olives. A few steps and the pasta leaves are ready to be baked! Crunchy and tasty, one leads to another!

In this case, I chose to serve them skewered in a centerpiece made of cabbage! Cut in half and first covered with aluminum foil and then with tissue paper! My mother’s old trick; which he always used at every birthday party and buffet to serve the skewers on the table! In this way, the puff pastry saplings are easy to take and arrive at the table in a delicious and chic way! As an alternative to the cabbage centerpiece, you can simply serve them in a long glass or mug!

Recipe Difficulty Level: super easy Servings: 10

Ingredients for 20 Christmas trees:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) of Hungarian salami (alternatively, you can use ham or pancetta)
  • 18-20 green olives

For the decoration (optional):

  • 1 small cabbage
  • A red ribbon
  • 1 red tissue paper
  • 1 small branch of pine

Cut the slices of salami into strips (1 cm (0.4 Inches)). Cut the puff pastry into strips of 1 cm each. Lay the strip of salami on the top of the pastry strips (cover all the strips, without empty spaces).

How to create a Christmas tree:

Fold as an accordion. Starts from a small piece and then widens the dimension in order to shape a tree. Skewer the tree with a meat skewer.

Pose the trees on a baking tray covered with baking paper (you will need about 2 baking trays).

Put the trees in the fridge for about 30 minutes (in this way, they will keep their shape).

Cook them in a pre-heat oven at 200 C (392 °F) for 15 minutes.

How to decorate them as a centerpiece.

Cut the cabbage into two. Cover the external part with aluminum paper.

Now, cover the half cabbage with red tissue paper.

With the ribbon, close it as you would do with a bag. Tie the pine branch.

Close the ‘bag’ with the ribbon. Insert the trees inside the centerpiece.

At the top of each tree, place a green olive.

Enjoy! Buon appetito!
