How to make the Puff Pastry Christmas wreath 

The puff pastry Christmas wreath is a tasty and cheerful appetizer, perfect for decorating the tables during the Christmas holidays.

I saw this Puff Pastry Christmas wreath on the internet a few years ago, though a version with pizza dough. Since a thousand things are already prepared for Christmas, why not speed up a recipe when you can? So I chose ready-made puff pastry, this way you’ll still have a nice Christmas rustic, but it will take much less time.

Puff pastry cottages have become a classic on Christmas and New Year’s tables, like Christmas Trees Puff Pastry, puff pastry, salami, and green olives, Nutella pastry Christmas Tree.

But why not make something that can turn into a pretty centerpiece? No one will be able to resist a crown of good and “beautiful” puff pastry!

The ingredients are very few. All you need is a roll of ready-made puff pastry and spreadable white cheese, and the crown is ready to go in the oven!

The only other thing that is needed is a little manual dexterity, but following my video step by step will be child’s play. To complete my garland, I embellished it with olives and halved cherry tomatoes that resemble Christmas balls; the final effect is truly amazing!

Puff Pastry Christmas wreath: many variations

As I often say in this kind of recipe, however, there is plenty of room for imagination. If you don’t like tuna, replace it – for example – with salmon. Or you can make a vegetarian version with spinach or Genoese pesto. For a delicious version, you can make it with pieces of ham, sautéed zucchini, or sautéed mushrooms. In short, this crown can be customized in a thousand different ways.

Recipe Difficulty Level: super easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry (round)
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) of spreadable cheese (like Philadelphia or similar)
  • 60 g (2 oz) of drained canned tuna
  • green olives
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • 1 egg yolk to brush the surface

Method:

Unwrap the pastry and place it on baking paper in a baking tray. The size of the dough circle should be larger than the pan, so there will be some dough left over to create the border.

Now take a bowl or saucer, turn it upside down, and place it in the center of the puff pastry. Press down lightly to leave an even circle on the dough.

Next, take a knife and make cuts on the dough to divide the inner circle (which came out of the bowl imprint) into 8 triangles.

In a separate bowl mix tuna and the soft cheese.

Place the bowl again in the center of the already marked circle, and spread the tuna and soft cheese mixture on the free part of the pastry.

Remove the bowl and place an olive on the part of the dough where the triangles are.

Fold the edges of the puff pastry and take the cut parts of the circle and place them on the part of the pastry covered with the mixture up to the edges.

Cut in two the olives, and the cherry tomatoes and add on top of it.

Brush with a beaten egg yolk and cook in preheated oven at 180 C (360°F) for about 30 minutes, until it’s gold.
