Tiramisu: the most famous Italian dessert

Tiramisu: the most famous Italian dessert

Today we prepare tiramisu Italian dessert the most famous in the world! A delicious dessert with a few main ingredients: coffee, eggs, mascarpone, and ladyfingers.

I propose you the real and traditional recipe for tiramisu. The original recipe is with ladyfingers but in Italy, we use also “pavesini” biscuits, try both versions and let me know which one you prefer!

Where did tiramisu come from and when was it invented?

Tiramisu was born in Treviso in the second half of the 19th century. The first records of this dessert lead us to the peasant tradition of this city in the Veneto region. A dessert with a cream made of mascarpone and eggs.

Each family would customize the cream by adding other ingredients following the tastes of the people and the territory: coffee, white wine, liqueur, cookies, cocoa, etc.

Can tiramisu be frozen?

Yes, you can safely freeze it and this is a great advantage because you can prepare it when you have time and thaw it when you have guests or want to eat it.
Be careful though: tiramisu can be frozen as long as you do it within a day of when you made it.

This is to avoid the excessive bacterial buildup that would continue to proliferate in the freezer, albeit more slowly.

It is important to cover it very well, with at least a couple of turns of plastic wrap or in an airtight container; you should carefully note the date of freezing. It can be stored for about a month. When you wish to enjoy it, take it out of the freezer and put it 4- 6 hours ahead in the refrigerator.

Be sure not to thaw it at room temperature and consume it within 12 hours of thawing. You can also freeze it in single-serving portions so that you only take out the one you need. In fact, remember that you cannot freeze the same product twice.

This dessert is not only delicious, but it is also very easy to prepare, fast and without cooking!

I give you some important tip for tiramisù Italian dessert:

-always use very fresh eggs and a good quality mascarpone!

-one of the secrets to making a perfect tiramisu is to use cold coffee, in this way, the ladyfingers are soaked without getting too soaked!

Take the eggs, and separate the egg yolk from the egg white (remember that in order to whip the egg white, you need to separate them well).

With an electric blender, beat until stiff.

In another bowl, whip the egg yolk with the sugar; add the mascarpone and whip until the composite becomes homogeneous.

Using a spatula, gently fold egg whites (from bottom to top) into the mascarpone mixture. You have now obtained the mascarpone cream.

Prepare the coffee and let it chill. Add some milk or water to it.

Now take a casserole and spread some cream.

Dip quickly ladyfinger in the coffee one by one and lay them in the casserole on top of the cream.

Cover them with some cream and repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients. Finish with the cream.

Finish the Tiramisù with cocoa powder.

Let the dessert sit in the fridge for at least four hours.

You can keep tiramisu for a maximum of two days in the fridge. Alternatively, you can freeze it (don’t keep it in the freezer for more than two weeks) and take it out from the freezer (into the fridge) 6 hours before eating it.

You can add chocolate chips!

Buon appetito!
